What’s in my cart?

So I’ve showed you what I eat in a typical day. Now, here’s what I buy in a typical shopping trip. To Costco, in case the size of everything didn’t tip you off:

  • Mixed salad greens (2 tubs)
  • Celery
  • Asparagus
  • Peppers, large
  • Peppers, mini
  • Pea pods
  • Mushrooms
  • Apples
  • Pineapple
  • Strawberries
  • Bananas
  • Mangos
  • Avocados
  • Organic boneless/skinless chicken thighs
  • Turkey breast
  • Coffee
  • Low-fat cottage cheese
  • Eggs
  • Grey Poupon
  • Whole peppercorns
  • Coconut milk (case, under cart)
  • Organic natural peanut butter
  • Organic brown basmati rice (10 lb. bag, under the cart)
  • Sprouted grain bread
  • Bottle of Argentinian wine (red)
I was super, super excited to see Costco now carrying Thai Kitchen coconut milk and organic brown basmati rice. To date, most of the rice they’ve carried has been white (they started carrying organic short grain brown rice last year, which makes a healthier pseudo-substitute for arborio rice in risotto).

I’ll make a stop at a natural foods store halfway across town to pick up yogurt and raw milk (the latter of both Whole Foods and my local food co-op stopped carrying, much to my massive disappointment) and to the produce stands at Pike Place Market for carrots and a few miscellaneous items.
