I’m done with my first term of grad school (and my very hard work paid off gradewise…whoo hoo!), done with Round One of Christmas travels (early Christmas with the in-laws last weekend), done with a bout of the stomach flu (which I picked up while at the in-laws)…and now I’m ready to cook up a storm!
I’m in charge of Christmas dessert (since, you know, I did go to pastry school some years back, and all), so one of my tasks the next few days is to decide what to make. So many choices!
As many cookbooks as I have, I am a sucker for new recipes, and I’m currently drooling over some possibilities in Full Circle’s holiday e-book. (It’s free! You can download it here!)
Gingerbread Bundt Cake and the Pumpkin Chocolate Spice Cake are calling out to me, in particular. Speaking of pumpkin (my favorite fall-winter ingredient), the All-Day Pumpkin Chili is on my to-make list for next week, as is the recipe for Brussels Sprouts with Cranberries and Hazelnuts (three of my favorite things!) and the Best Baked Spinach. And then there’s the Carrot and Potato Latkes and the Gingered Pumpkin Soup (pumpkin, again!). Delicious and chock full of veggies? Yes, please.
I don’t think there a recipe in this pretty little e-book that I wouldn’t happily make, and that’s more than I can say for most cooking magazines that cross my doorstep. I’ve made several of the recipes that come with my weekly Full Circle produce box, and have had great luck with them. (Their Mixed Greens with Polenta is one of my healthy comfort food go-tos.) So, if you could use some fresh recipe ideas for the upcoming holiday weekends (or even for everyday), get to downloading!
