I am a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) certified by the Commission of Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In case you’re curious, an RDN is the same as an RD (registered dietitian), we have the option of using either name. I’m also a certified dietitian (CD) in Washington State.
I have a Master of Public Health degree in nutritional sciences from the University of Washington. I also completed the Graduate Coordinated Program in Dietetics, which provided the additional coursework and 1200+ hours of supervised practice experience necessary to become an RD or RDN.
My UW coursework included nutrition and metabolism, nutrition in acute care, nutrition in chronic disease, nutrition counseling, nutrition education, public health nutrition, food safety, maternal and infant nutrition, molecular gastronomy, nutrition research design, epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health and society and health. My prerequisite coursework included biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry and anatomy & physiology.
In January 2017 I earned my certification as an Intuitive Eating Counselor.
I also have a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from the University of Oregon. I minored in sociology.

Conferences + Additional Training
I’m confess…I’m a conference junkie. I regularly attend the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Food & Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE), as well as the Today’s Dietitian Conference and the Washington State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Conference. I’ve also squeezed in the Nutrition & Health Conference (sponsored by the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine) and a few years the Renfrew Foundation Conference (which focuses on eating disorders). That’s been rounded out by assorted food blogging and culinary conferences.
I’ve also done professional training related to intuitive eating, mindful eating, motivational interviewing and Health At Every Size. Here’s a round-up:
- Core Concepts in Mindful Eating class series with Megrette Fletcher (2017)
- Intuitive Eating training and supervision with Evelyn Tribole (2015-16)
- Motivational Interviewing workshop with Molly Kellogg, Seattle (February 2015)
- Health at Every Size in Clinical Practice workshop at Be Nourished, Portland, OR (September 2012)
- Motivational Interviewing workshop at Be Nourished, Portland, OR (September 2012)
